Vertical has picked up U.S. distribution for Unbearable Christmas, a seasonal comedy. Its ensemble includes Alex Moffat, Julia Stiles, Caroline Rhea, Mena Suvari, and Stephen Root, who has won an Emmy.
The narrative follows Troy Tipton, an unemployed forecaster, as he seeks to reclaim a cherished plush bear he exchanged at a pawn shop for Christmas funds. A drive with his family from Ohio to Florida grows more turbulent once they learn the toy is a valuable Teddy Roosevelt collectible.
This pickup may help Vertical build a holiday release with familiar names. It could appeal to families seeking light seasonal entertainment and fans of the cast. If marketed well, the film may find an audience across theatrical and home viewing, though its actual reach will depend on reviews, timing, and competition. Its performance could also shape how independent distributors view similar star-driven holiday comedies.
