Yemen Update: Houthi Strikes Continue as Taiz Front Shifts

Ansar Allah reportedly struck al-Dagharir and al-Mawsim camps in Jizan, Aakifah camp in Asir, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Abha International Airport, Khamis Mushait Air Base, and Saudi supplies near Aden airport. Saudi-backed forces were pushed out of al-Salu district in Taiz and surrendered their weapons and positions to Ansar Allah. The Saudi-backed counterattack near Bab al-Mandab had stalled, and reports said Syria might join Saudi Arabia’s campaign against Ansar Allah.
On October 7, 2026, reports described Ansar Allah strikes on two camps in Jizan, a camp in Asir, Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, Abha International Airport, Khamis Mushait Air Base, and Saudi supplies at Badr camp near Aden’s airport. In Taiz province, Saudi-backed units reportedly left al-Salu district and handed their weapons and positions to Ansar Allah.
The same update said the Saudi-backed push near Bab al-Mandab had stalled by that date, leaving Ansar Allah holding the passage. It also noted claims that Syria might join Saudi Arabia’s campaign in Yemen.
If confirmed, continued strikes and shifts in Taiz could deepen insecurity for civilians near airports, military sites, and front lines. Control of Bab al-Mandab may affect shipping and prices, while any Syrian involvement could widen regional tensions. Yemeni and Saudi communities, aid operations, and traders may face greater disruption; outcomes remain uncertain.
