Wax Heads game soundtrack gets vinyl release

The soundtrack for the indie record store game Wax Heads will be released on vinyl. The 2LP set contains 25 original songs written by composer Gina Loughlin for fictional bands, with unique multi-coloured vinyl and exclusive inner art. Pre-orders open on October 8 through Super Rare Games.
Wax Heads launched earlier this year as a cozy-punk puzzle game set in a struggling indie vinyl shop called Repeater Records. Players suggest bands to a varied customer base. Its soundtrack collects 25 pieces composed by Gina Loughlin for invented groups, spanning multiple genres and eras.
The 2LP release uses a multicolored pressing that makes each copy visually distinct. It also includes a full-color sleeve and bonus inner artwork. Pre-orders begin October 8 through Super Rare Games. Co-creator Murray Somerwolff has said the game's community-minded spirit was shaped by punk values and by Fugazi's 1990 debut Repeater, which inspired the shop's name.
The vinyl release may help bridge game fans and record collectors, giving soundtrack listeners a tangible object tied to fictional bands. It could draw more attention to composers working in games and to the niche appeal of physical music. For independent shops and labels, such crossovers may reinforce interest in browsing, discovery, and community around music, though the actual effect will likely depend on how many players collect vinyl.
