Warhammer Blood Bowl Will Replace Blood Bowl 3, But Warpstone and Teams Carry Over

Warhammer Blood Bowl, now published by Slitherine, is in beta and will eventually replace Blood Bowl 3. Slitherine has confirmed that Blood Bowl 3 owners will get the new game for free and that their accounts will transfer, including purchased cosmetics, Warpstone, and teams. The company is still deciding how teams will be unlocked in the new version, so players do not need to spend leftover Warpstone out of fear it will be lost.
Warhammer Blood Bowl is an upgraded edition of Blood Bowl 3, the digital take on Games Workshop’s tabletop fantasy-football game. Slitherine has taken over publishing from Focus Home Interactive, and the new version is in beta with plans to replace Blood Bowl 3 later this year.
Existing Blood Bowl 3 owners will receive it at no cost, and Slitherine says a shared account will carry over purchased cosmetics, Warpstone, and teams. Warpstone will still buy cosmetics, but team unlocking is undecided. The beta includes mid-match save-and-quit, a seven-a-side Rumble Mode, and a weather-effects UI icon.
The transition may reassure Blood Bowl 3 players that purchases retain value, reducing anxiety about spending before shutdown. It could also affect how other game communities view publisher changes and account migration, especially for games with in-game currencies. If team access changes to paid DLC, some players may feel new costs, while free upgrades could sustain interest and competitive play. Overall impact may remain limited to niche strategy and sports fans, not broad society.
