Wardogs Streamer KatieRouu Banned Over Base-Building Exploit

Wardogs developer Bulkhead banned streamer KatieRouu after she used an exploit involving forward-operating bases. She and her squad reportedly placed many sniper towers, allowed the enemy to capture the base, then fired mortars from a separate supplied position to generate large amounts of in-game money. CEO Joe Brammer said the behavior was an unintended exploit and that promoting it was unacceptable.
Wardogs is a first-person shooter where players take roles such as frontline combatant, truck driver, or base builder. Actions like reconnaissance, transport, and constructing forward-operating bases earn in-game currency, which can buy equipment and loadouts. At season's end, remaining money converts into gold, a premium currency used for cosmetics.
KatieRouu and squad used many sniper lookout towers at a FOB, let opponents capture it, then fired mortars from a separately supplied FOB. Destroying enemy structures and supplying ammunition generated large payouts. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer described the tactic as outside intended design, said encouraging others to use it crossed a line, and noted fixes and tracking for Season 2. The official account said punishments were final.
This ban could shape how players, streamers, and developers view in-game economies and rule enforcement. Viewers may become more aware of exploits and their consequences, while creators could face greater scrutiny over promoting unintended money-making methods. Developers may use such cases to clarify policies and improve tracking, potentially affecting trust between communities and studios. The outcome may also influence how entertainment platforms treat game-related controversies, though its broader societal reach is likely limited to gaming culture and online creator communities.
