Seiko Adds Two Limited Astron GPS Solar Models for International Travel

Seiko will release the Astron GPS Solar HAB009J1 and HAB010J1 in November 2026, limited to 1,500 pieces each. Both use the Caliber 5X63 GPS Solar movement, black titanium cases, and dials inspired by crystals in dark rock. The watches offer satellite time synchronization, a 38-city world-time function, and dual-time display, but time-zone changes still require a manual GPS adjustment.
Seiko’s two Astron GPS Solar references, HAB009J1 and HAB010J1, arrive in November 2026 at $2,900, capped at 1,500 units each. They share Caliber 5X63, black-coated titanium cases, sapphire crystals, 10-bar water resistance, and a 43.4mm diameter with 50mm lug-to-lug. The green/yellow-gold and burgundy/pink-gold variants differ mainly by color, and each caseback carries a serial number.
The solar movement is rated for roughly six months of normal running or two years in an energy-saving setting. It provides a 38-city world time, dual-time display, time transfer, day and power-reserve indicators, a perpetual calendar through February 28, 2100, and a 1/20-second chronograph lasting up to 24 hours. An extra calf-leather strap and a tool-free swapping setup are included.
These limited releases may appeal to frequent international travelers and watch collectors who value analog durability and solar convenience over smartwatch connectivity. Their high price and manual GPS time-zone step could limit broader adoption, while reinforcing a niche for hybrid travel watches. Buyers who prefer compact cases may hesitate due to 50mm lug-to-lug. The models may also signal continued interest in satellite-assisted analog timekeeping amid smartwatch dominance.
