Han Ji-min Receives THR Trailblazer Honor at Busan’s American Film Night

Han Ji-min accepted The Hollywood Reporter’s Trailblazer Award during American Film Night at the Busan International Film Festival. The gala, presented with the Motion Picture Association, recognized her two-decade career in television and film. She is set to star alongside Lee Byung-hun in Disney+’s The Koreans, a Korean reimagining of The Americans.
Han Ji-min was honored at American Film Night, a THR and Motion Picture Association event held on the Park Hyatt Busan’s 33rd floor, overlooking the waterfront and Gwangan Bridge. The award, presented by THR’s Asia bureau chief Patrick Brzeski after remarks by MPA Asia-Pacific president Urmila Venugopalan, marked the first time THR has given its Trailblazer Award in Korea.
The recognition highlights a career spanning roughly twenty years, including TV roles in Resurrection, Yi San, Rooftop Prince, Our Blues and Love Scout, plus a Blue Dragon and Baeksang best actress win for Miss Baek. She will next appear with Lee Byung-hun in Disney+’s The Koreans, a 1990s-set Korean take on The Americans.
The award may boost Han Ji-min's global profile and draw more attention to Korean television and film talent. It could encourage international partnerships between Korean creators and U.S. entertainment bodies, potentially expanding opportunities for actors and crew. Audiences may encounter more cross-cultural spy dramas like The Koreans, while industry recognition could reinforce Busan's role as a hub for global entertainment conversations.
