Leak Suggests iPhone Air 2 Gets Slimmer and Adds Bigger Battery

A Korean Naver tipster claims the iPhone Air 2 will be roughly 0.4mm thinner than the current model, bringing it to about 5.2mm. The same rumor suggests the device will carry a 3,500mAh battery, an increase from the 3,149mAh cell in the current iPhone Air. Apple is expected to release it early next year alongside the iPhone 18e and standard iPhone 18.
The rumor comes from the Korean Naver blog account yeux1122. It says the next iPhone Air would measure about 5.2mm, down from Apple's listed 5.6mm for the current model—a roughly 7% reduction. That would make it as thin as an unfolded iPhone Duo.
A separate earlier claim pointed to a 3,500mAh battery, compared with 3,149mAh now, an increase of about 11% in raw capacity. Apple is expected to introduce the phone early next year with the iPhone 18e and standard iPhone 18.
If accurate, a thinner iPhone Air with a larger battery could appeal to buyers who prioritize portability and endurance, potentially influencing rival smartphone designs. It may also affect accessory makers, repair shops, and resellers as form factors and battery expectations shift. However, because the claim is a leak, its real-world impact remains uncertain until Apple confirms or launches the device.
