Gurman Says OLED MacBook Pro May Not Be Much Thinner

Mark Gurman now says the touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro expected later this month will not be significantly thinner than current versions. He had previously described the models as having thinner and lighter frames or a thinner chassis. His latest comment suggests the main improvement may be reduced weight rather than a major reduction in thickness.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has adjusted his expectations for Apple’s forthcoming touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro. He now doubts the laptop will be much slimmer than existing models, despite earlier reports.
In late 2025, he said the machines would have frames that were both lighter and slimmer, and later he mentioned a slimmer body. His October 2026 newsletter instead points to a notable weight reduction. The product is expected to arrive later this month.
For potential buyers, especially frequent travelers and creative professionals, a lighter premium laptop could matter even if its profile stays similar. If thickness changes little, the update may feel less dramatic in showrooms, while everyday carrying comfort might still improve. Apple’s choices may also shape what consumers expect from high-end notebooks, though the practical effect will depend on details not yet known.
