Apple Said to Await Samsung's Four-Edge OLED for a Truly Borderless iPhone

A supply-chain leak suggests Apple is waiting for Samsung to finish a new OLED panel that bends sharply along all four sides. The design would keep the main front screen flat while turning the phone's edges into display space, potentially removing visible bezels and side buttons. The report traces this as the next step in years of shrinking smartphone borders.
Samsung's rumored panel is said to cover the phone's entire surround. It would preserve a flat main viewing area while turning downward at steep angles along every edge and corner, unlike older waterfall screens that curved into the front surface.
Those earlier designs could cause palm mis-touches, edge distortion, and glare. Samsung's version is reportedly intended for reliable mass production, refining Xiaomi's 2021 quad-curved concept. Conventional phones still require borders to hide driver chips and protect panel edges.
If such a display reaches iPhones, consumers may gain sleeker, more immersive devices, but repair and durability concerns could grow as glass wraps edges. App and accessory makers may need to adapt interfaces and cases to edge touch zones. Manufacturers and suppliers could face pressure to match the design, while users who prefer tactile buttons or lower prices may find fewer familiar options.
