VEON and Amdocs agree decade-long IT modernization and AI partnership

VEON has signed a 10-year agreement with Amdocs to modernize its core IT operations and expand digital and AI services across Eurasia. Amdocs will manage the systems and use QazCode technology in its aOS platform, an AI-powered operating system designed for telecom operators. Digital and AI offerings now represent roughly 27% of VEON's revenue, and the deal extends Amdocs' presence in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the wider region.
VEON has committed to a decade-long arrangement with Amdocs covering the overhaul of its central IT functions and growth of digital and AI offerings across Eurasia. Amdocs will take responsibility for running and updating those systems, aiming to improve operational efficiency and cost control.
The vendor will incorporate QazCode-developed technology into aOS, its AI-focused operating system for telecom carriers. VEON says digital and AI services generate about 27% of revenue. The agreement also broadens Amdocs' footprint in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and neighboring markets.
The modernization could affect millions of mobile and digital-service users across VEON's Eurasian markets, potentially bringing more reliable networks, faster service updates and AI-assisted customer support. Businesses and public services may gain from expanded digital tools, while telecom employees could see roles shift as automation increases. Benefits may depend on implementation, local infrastructure and how operators manage cost and access concerns.
