Houston Stage and Performance Picks for October 5–11, 2026
This weekly guide covers Houston theater and performing arts events running from October 5 through October 11, 2026. Highlights include Sarah Bareilles at the Hobby Center, Latin jazz with Leo Sandoval and the Jazz Houston All Stars, new local commissions, and a Pasadena ghost story. The roundup also flags final performances of Disgraced at MATCH and Amadeus at Rec Room Arts.
This week's Houston arts calendar spans Broadway-style concerts, Latin jazz, contemporary classical premieres, and community theater. Sarah Bareilles brings her Good Grief Tour to the Hobby Center for two nights, while Leo Sandoval and the Jazz Houston All Stars celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Latin-inflected jazz.
At MATCH, Tim Hagans and Houston musicians premiere a nature-inspired program; Pasadena Little Theatre opens a ghost story about an heir, a real estate agent, and opinionated spirits. Closing notices include Disgraced at MATCH and Amadeus at Rec Room Arts, with Romeo & Juliet ending Sunday at Alley Theatre.
This week's slate may give Houston audiences varied entry points into live performance, from major touring acts to free or pay-what-you-can events. Local musicians, composers, and small companies could gain visibility through commissions and shared stages. Final chances to see acclaimed productions may draw theatergoers to MATCH and Rec Room Arts, while Pasadena's ghost story may strengthen neighborhood arts participation. Such programming could support cultural tourism and community connection, though impact depends on turnout and access.
