Panettiere Estate Dispute Brings Daughter to Court Over Missing Jewelry

Hayden Panettiere's 11-year-old daughter Kaya appeared by video at a Los Angeles court hearing on Oct. 8. Wladimir Klitschko, Kaya's father, was granted permission to seek police assistance in recovering jewelry allegedly taken from Panettiere's estate. A lawyer said a non-family member may have tried to sell the items at a pawn shop, and an investigation is ongoing.
Hayden Panettiere died Aug. 16 at 36 in South Carolina. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office attributed her death to fentanyl and other drugs and ruled it accidental. Her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, is her sole heir.
At an Oct. 8 Los Angeles hearing, Judge Stephanie Santoro made Wladimir Klitschko temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate until Dec. 7. He can file a probate petition, sign Panettiere’s 2025 tax returns, and seek police help recovering property. Lawyer Diane Park said someone outside the family may have taken jewelry and tried to pawn it; an investigation is ongoing.
This dispute may focus attention on how probate courts shield minor heirs when a celebrity dies suddenly. It could affect Panettiere’s family and estate representatives through delays, legal costs, and privacy strain. Law enforcement and pawn shops may face competing claims over valuable items, while fans could see a reminder that sudden deaths can leave complex financial and personal matters unresolved.
