Cardano Sets 436 TPS Block Record, Targets 1,000 TPS

Cardano processed 436 transactions per second in a single block on October 7, surpassing the 345 TPS record set the same day, according to Chainspect. The network is preparing the Ouroboros Leios protocol to reach a 1,000 TPS target. Monthly revenue rose to $70,000, and social media interest hit a yearly high amid the RealFi mainnet launch and Fireblocks support.
Cardano’s October 7 performance included two single-block records: 436 TPS, then higher than the 345 TPS mark set earlier that day, according to Chainspect. The analytics firm said this shows the chain can absorb brief spikes in activity. Cardano is now developing Ouroboros Leios, a protocol intended to push capacity toward 1,000 TPS.
Recent ecosystem updates include RealFi’s October 1 mainnet launch and Fireblocks support, which Santiment tied to this year’s peak social attention. Cardano also advanced a .ada domain application, added Open Wallet Standard support in software version 1.4.3, and introduced CIP-0113, a programmable token standard for compliance features in native assets. Monthly revenue reached $70,000.
Faster block capacity and planned scaling could make Cardano more usable for payments, apps, and tokenized assets, potentially affecting everyday users, developers, and businesses. Embedded compliance features may help regulated issuers manage rules, while wallet standards could simplify access across chains. Higher social attention and institutional support may influence investor sentiment, though technical targets and real-world adoption remain uncertain. The main societal effect may be whether lower-friction blockchain services reach broader audiences without adding new risks.
