Crunchyroll has confirmed that the Ghost of Tsushima anime, tied to PlayStation Productions, Aniplex, and Hayate, will now arrive in 2028 instead of 2027. Keiji Inai will compose the music, with Yoshikazu Iwanami handling sound direction and other staff also announced.
Crunchyroll will be the exclusive streaming home for the Ghost of Tsushima anime, which is being made with PlayStation Productions, Aniplex, and Hayate. It was previously expected in 2027 but is now set for 2028. Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu have joined the cast, though their parts remain unspecified; Saco portrayed Tomoe in the game, while Fukumatsu has appeared in several anime.
Keiji Inai will handle music, Yoshikazu Iwanami sound direction, Yasumasa Koyama sound effects, and Gyousyou Suzuki title calligraphy. The series takes its name from the game's multiplayer mode, Ghost of Tsushima Legends, and presents its samurai action through a more supernatural lens. Only teaser posters have been shown so far.
The delay could affect fans anticipating a PlayStation-linked anime, Crunchyroll subscribers, and viewers drawn to supernatural samurai stories. A longer wait may dampen immediate excitement, but the added cast and crew announcements could sustain interest and signal continued investment. If the adaptation reaches a broad anime audience, it may introduce new people to the Ghost of Tsushima franchise and strengthen cross-media ties between games and streaming entertainment.
