Gigabyte BIOS update points to 2027 Intel LGA 1700 CPU refresh

Gigabyte has added BIOS support for future Intel processors that will work in existing LGA 1700 motherboards, with an expected arrival in early 2027. The update applies to B760 and H610 boards in both DDR4 and DDR5 versions, allowing owners to upgrade without swapping motherboards. Gigabyte did not share model names, specifications, or prices, and some other LGA 1700 boards such as Z690, Z790, and B660 are excluded.
Gigabyte’s firmware release signals Intel may extend LGA 1700 into early 2027. The supported boards are B760 and H610, in DDR4 and DDR5 forms, so some users could keep their current memory and motherboard. Z690, Z790, and B660 are not listed.
Intel has not named models, specs, or prices. Reports describe a possible third Raptor Lake refresh, perhaps under Core 200 branding, with leaked Core 3, Core 5, and Core 7 configurations. An Intel executive previously said LGA 1700 remains useful and DDR4 demand persists.
This update could matter most to budget-conscious PC owners and small organizations already using LGA 1700 systems, especially those with DDR4 memory. If the rumored chips arrive, they may offer a cheaper upgrade path than replacing a motherboard, CPU, and RAM together. That could extend hardware life and reduce some electronic waste, though limited board support and unknown pricing may temper the benefit.
