Five Warner Bros. Discovery Leaders Collect $1.1B After Paramount Deal

SEC filings show that five top Warner Bros. Discovery executives received about $1.1 billion from stock and options tied to the company’s sale to Paramount. Former CEO David Zaslav accounted for more than $600 million, while four deputies collectively netted over $500 million. Roughly half of WBD employees held equity, and reports suggest hundreds of them also received sizable payouts.
SEC Form 4 filings show five Warner Bros. Discovery leaders received roughly $1.1 billion from shares and in-the-money options tied to the Paramount sale. David Zaslav’s portion exceeded $600 million: about $224 million in stock and roughly $381 million from options, before severance, tax benefits, or perks.
Four deputies collectively netted over $500 million: JB Perrette about $157 million, Bruce Campbell $129 million, Gunnar Weidenfels $122 million, and Gerhard Zeiler $92 million. Perrette is the only one moving to Skydance, as co-chair and chief business officer for TV and streaming. Roughly half of WBD employees held equity; reports said around 500 would net at least $1 million and 1,000 at least $500,000.
The payouts could deepen public debate over executive compensation versus rank-and-file job security, especially as Skydance consolidation may lead to layoffs. Employees who held equity may gain short-term financial cushion, while those without shares or facing cuts could experience uncertainty. The deal may also reshape streaming and TV production, affecting viewers through fewer studios, altered content budgets, and possible changes in programming choices.
