Phoebe Bridgers Shares Studio Video Featuring Boygenius Reunion

Phoebe Bridgers released a three-song studio performance video directed by Lance Oppenheim as part of the 'Sound Check at Cherry Lane Theatre' series. The set includes 'On Video,' 'Haunted,' and 'Lost Boys,' with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus joining for the final two songs to reunite Boygenius. It marks the trio's first on-camera appearance together in nearly three years, since their November 2023 'Saturday Night Live' performance.
The clip comes from "Sound Check at Cherry Lane Theatre." Bridgers performs "On Video," her "Primetime" closing theme, in low light before televisions, backed only by keyboardist Jay Gruska. "Haunted" and "Lost Boys" follow, with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus joining; Dacus also handles a camera during "Haunted," which adds four acoustic players. The finale reduces to the trio and emphasizes harmonies. It is their first on-camera reunion since November 2023's "Saturday Night Live."
Filming occurred after Bridgers' three sold-out Barclays Center shows. Cherry Lane, described as New York's oldest off-Broadway venue, is run by A24, the studio behind "Primetime." Oppenheim had already directed the "Lost Boys" music video and HBO's "Ren Faire."
This release may give fans unable to attend Bridgers' phone-free arena dates a sense of intimacy. It could also renew interest in Boygenius and each member's solo work, while highlighting A24's expanding role in music-related performance spaces. For artists, such studio films may become a way to document collaborations and reach audiences beyond touring.
