Dodomu Platform Helps Ukrainians Abroad Plan a Return Home

A platform called Dodomu is designed to help Ukrainians living abroad prepare for a possible return to Ukraine by gathering scattered information in one place. Users can create a personalized return plan, view profiles of 149 communities, and locate Unity Hubs abroad for consultations. The pilot, launched in June 2026, has drawn more than 50,000 visits and is asking users for feedback.
According to the Centre for Economic Strategy, 43% of Ukrainians abroad either intend to return or lean toward it. In EU nations, 4.43 million displaced Ukrainians remain under temporary protection; Germany hosts about 1.29 million, close to one-third of that group. Roughly 80% of those contemplating return tie the decision to the war’s conclusion.
Dodomu, launched as a pilot in June 2026, has logged over 50,000 visits. It offers a tailored return plan, profiles of 149 communities, and Unity Hubs abroad for consultations. The project was developed under YOUA with German support via GIZ and Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity, without Ukrainian state budget funds.
The platform may ease some uncertainty for displaced Ukrainians weighing return by centralizing practical information. If it reaches people considering relocation, it could help them compare communities, access consultations, and plan housing, work, schooling, or services. Its impact may depend on whether users find the pilot useful and whether conditions in Ukraine allow returns. Families, older people, and communities receiving returnees could be most affected.
