Design Insiders Gather at Andrée Putman’s New York Showroom

AD PRO Design Dialogues ended with a sunset reception at the new Andrée Putman Studio showroom, a three-floor penthouse gallery on Bowery with two rooftop terraces. The space presents re-editions of Andrée Putman’s furniture alongside new studio work, with the brand now led by her daughter Olivia Putman and CEO Aurélie Laure. Attendees from architecture and interior design explored the gallery and heard remarks about carrying forward Putman’s design values.
The closing reception followed the AD PRO Design Dialogues summit in New York on September 16. The Andrée Putman Studio showroom, opened in May, occupies a Bowery penthouse with three levels and two rooftop terraces. The brand is now guided by Putman’s daughter Olivia and CEO Aurélie Laure. Its Bowery address echoes the designer’s earlier New York connections.
Inside, visitors saw more than 150 collaborations and original pieces, including a reissued Voie Lactée wool-and-silk rug Putman created for her own 1978 home. Chef Noot Seear’s black-and-white bites referenced Putman’s checkerboard-tiled Morgans Hotel bath, served on Christofle Vertigo ware.
The event may reinforce New York’s role as a design gathering hub and could draw broader public attention to legacy studios led by family successors. Design professionals, collectors, and students might find inspiration in Putman’s emphasis on dialogue across disciplines. The showroom’s residential-gallery format may encourage more hybrid retail-cultural spaces, potentially influencing how design brands present history and new work to local and visiting audiences.
