Rainbow Six Mobile to close in January 2027, Ubisoft team confirms

Ubisoft will shut down Rainbow Six Mobile on January 15, 2027, less than a year after its global launch in February 2026. The development team said the next season will still release as planned and that staff will move to other long-term projects. The game first soft-launched in 2023 and ran for 15 seasons.
Rainbow Six Mobile was revealed in April 2022 as a portable take on Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege, and it incorporated maps familiar from that title. After a 2023 soft launch, it reached full global availability in February 2026 and accumulated 15 seasons before the shutdown decision.
The development update said one more season would arrive as scheduled the following week. The team also stated it would transition to other longer-term strategic efforts. Meanwhile, Rainbow Six Siege continues, with its creative director recently discussing how the studio plans to reward players who stay engaged during GTA 6’s launch period.
The closure may disappoint players who built communities and routines around the mobile shooter, especially those who preferred it as their main way to play. Its developers could face mixed effects: reassignment may offer stability, yet the team’s shared project ends. The shutdown may also shape how some consumers view the longevity of mobile live-service games, potentially making them warier of investing time or money in similar titles. Ubisoft’s broader Siege audience is likely less directly affected, since that game remains active.
