Samsung Forecasts Massive Q3 Profit Jump, but Shares Slip

Samsung Electronics expects third-quarter 2026 revenue of about 195 trillion KRW and operating profit of roughly 107.40 trillion KRW. That would represent a 126.6% revenue increase and a 782.5% profit surge from a year earlier. Despite the strong forecast, the stock fell 2.4% on Friday as some investors had anticipated even higher figures.
Samsung's preliminary guidance put third-quarter 2026 consolidated sales near 195 trillion KRW and operating income around 107.40 trillion KRW. Compared with the prior-year period, that implies revenue growth of 126.6% and operating profit growth of 782.5%. Full quarterly results are scheduled for October 29, 2026.
The shares closed Friday at 262,000 KRW, down 2.4%, even though they remain up 119% year to date and about 30% below their 52-week high. The company also finished a 15 trillion KRW buyback, removing a recurring source of market demand. Separately, AMD's Lisa Su said AMD is evaluating memory and foundry cooperation with Samsung after a March supply memorandum.
Samsung's forecast may shape confidence across the semiconductor supply chain, affecting investors, pension funds, and retail shareholders with exposure to technology stocks. Employees and suppliers could see investment and hiring plans influenced by memory and foundry demand. Consumers may eventually notice changes in device prices or availability if component costs and capacity shift. The reaction also may color broader market sentiment toward large tech manufacturers, though the full impact will depend on detailed results and future guidance.
