Dungeons & Dragons Reveals Star Wars Campaign and Core Rulebook for 2027

Wizards of the Coast has detailed an official Star Wars expansion for Dungeons & Dragons, arriving in April 2027. The release includes the pre-written adventure Star Wars Tyro Squadron: Adventures and a Star Wars core rules book for custom campaigns. Tyro Squadron follows rebels battling the Empire during the original trilogy era.
The Star Wars project follows D&D’s broader crossover strategy, which draws on Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond model. Before it arrives, a 256-page World of Warcraft-themed expansion is scheduled for November. The Star Wars partnership was first teased at Gen Con 2026’s Visions Keynote, with concrete product details later shared after New York Comic Con.
The April 2027 release includes Star Wars Tyro Squadron: Adventures, a pre-written rebel campaign set during the original trilogy, plus a Star Wars core rules book for custom play. More information is expected at Star Wars Celebration in April. A fan-made Star Wars 5e project already offers four free books using D&D-style mechanics.
This crossover may draw existing D&D players and Star Wars fans into shared tabletop experiences, potentially expanding both communities. Local game stores, online groups, and content creators could see renewed interest in sci-fi campaigns and accessible rules. If the core book supports custom adventures, it may encourage long-term homebrew play rather than only one-off licensed stories. The release could also highlight fan-made adaptations, though official products may compete for attention.
