Washington, Kyiv, and European envoys meet in Miami to weigh path to ending Russia's war

Officials from the United States, Ukraine, and Europe gathered in Miami on Oct. 9 to discuss ways to end Russia's war, with winter preparations and security arrangements among the issues on the table. The talks also touched on shielding Ukraine's energy system, keeping grain exports moving, postwar rebuilding, economic recovery, and possible EU membership, and included representatives from France, Germany, the UK, the European Commission, and NATO. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff described the discussions as constructive but announced no concrete deals, while Zelensky said he expected a briefing after the Ukrainian delegation returned to Kyiv on Oct. 12.
