Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they hit an LPG carrier that was using a southern route through the Strait of Hormuz without permission. A separate maritime report described a projectile causing a fire on a vessel near the UAE coast, though it identified a different ship. The incident occurred amid Iran's blockade of the strait and repeated attacks on shipping since the regional war began.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said its naval units struck the LPG carrier NV Sunshine, which it linked to NatWit, alleging the vessel tried to cross south of the Strait of Hormuz without Tehran’s approval. The Guards framed the action as enforcing Iranian authority over the waterway.
Separately, UKMTO reported a projectile hit a ship about 13 nautical miles off Al Jazeera Al Hamra, UAE, starting a fire; crew condition and damage were unclear. Vanguard named that vessel as Panama-flagged crude tanker GEM NO2. Since the war began February 28, shipping in the Gulf has faced repeated attacks, while Iran has blockaded Hormuz and the US has restricted Iranian port traffic.
