George Clooney Talks Justice at Fifth Albie Awards in London

The Clooney Foundation for Justice held its fifth annual Albie Awards at London's Natural History Museum, with guests including Brad Pitt, Laura Dern and Emma Thompson. George Clooney said justice is in short supply and praised the honorees for risking their lives to defend rights. He also gave The Hollywood Reporter an update on Ocean's 14.
The fifth Albies, hosted by the Clooney Foundation for Justice, took place Friday at London’s Natural History Museum. Alongside Amal and George Clooney, attendees included Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Emma Thompson, Felicity Jones, Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace, and Graham Norton, among others.
Honorees ranged from Kyrgyz journalists Bolot Temirov and Makhabat Tazhibek Kyzy to Malawian advocate Vanessa Mwangala, U.S. photojournalist Lynsey Addario, Congolese group Justice Plus, and Microsoft’s Brad Smith. Clooney also said Ocean’s 14 is expected to film largely in London and the U.K., with some French locations, beginning in roughly 11 months.
The ceremony may draw public attention to rights defenders and journalists whose work often goes unnoticed, potentially increasing support for their causes. By pairing celebrity visibility with awards for activists, it could help audiences connect entertainment culture to global justice issues. It may also shape perceptions of the Clooneys’ philanthropy and of celebrity advocacy, though the actual impact on policy or public action would likely depend on sustained coverage beyond the event.
