Mumbai Travelers Stranded After Delhi-Bound Trains Cancelled

Several Delhi-bound trains from Mumbai were cancelled or rescheduled at short notice ahead of a planned protest in the capital, leaving long-distance passengers stranded. The Railway Board ordered cancellations for dozens of long-distance trains scheduled to reach New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. on October 10. Western Railway cancelled at least five Mail and Express services on the Mumbai–Delhi corridor and rescheduled two Rajdhani trains, causing confusion at Mumbai and Palghar area stations.
The Railway Board told operators to drop dozens of long-distance trains due at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 10. It pointed to likely traffic pressure around both hubs from a sizable planned protest.
Western Railway removed at least five Mail and Express services departing Mumbai for Delhi on October 9 and pushed two Rajdhani trains, Mumbai Rajdhani and August Kranti Rajdhani, back by several hours. Services from Indore and Ahmedabad were also affected, while Central Railway and other zones altered Delhi-bound operations during early October.
The disruption may leave families, students, workers, elderly, and international connecting passengers facing uncertainty, extra costs, and missed commitments. Station crowding and last-minute searches for buses or flights could strain local transport and inquiry services. For Palghar-area residents, the burden may be sharper because they had already traveled into Mumbai. If similar advisories recur, confidence in long-distance rail planning could weaken, though many travelers may adapt by monitoring alerts more closely.
