Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season 2 DLC Preview: New Modes, Courses, and Racers

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is preparing for its second year with Season 2 DLC packs and a free update. The free update adds a Rival Duel mode, while the Godzilla and Evangelion packs bring new courses and racers such as Aigis and Bayonetta. The preview found the Godzilla track thrilling but felt the Evangelion course was less distinctive.
The free patch introduces Rival Duel, a one-on-one race against computer-controlled rivals or online friends. Completing three-track sets for the first time yields rewards; one such reward unlocked Bayonetta. Godzilla and Evangelion content can be bought individually or through Season Pass 2.
Godzilla Escape sends racers through a City Escape-inspired setting while dodging debris and atomic breath. Tokyo-III is less memorable, though Unit-01 and Ramiel appear on the final lap. Packs add vehicles and racers including Rei, Asuka, McLaren Sonic, and Aigis, plus retro console-themed karts and Super Shadow bonuses.
This crossover DLC may appeal to racing fans and followers of Godzilla, Evangelion, Persona, Bayonetta, and Sega nostalgia. It could encourage continued spending on season passes and keep multiplayer lobbies active through new modes and rewards. For younger players, crossovers may serve as introductions to older franchises, while longtime fans may value fan service. Reception of uneven tracks could shape whether players buy future packs.
