Houthis Show Drone Attacks and Territorial Gains in Taiz

Yemen’s Houthis released two videos on October 10 showing attacks on Saudi-backed forces near the southwestern coast and claiming new territorial gains in Taiz province. One video showed kamikaze quadcopter strikes on vehicles and fighter gatherings in the Kahbub Mountains and al-Waziyah district. The other showed Houthi advances in Sama, As Silw, and al-Mawasit, along with surrenders under an amnesty, as fighting continued over access to the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
EXPANDED:
The Houthi military media published two clips on October 10. One featured “Shawaz” one-way quadcopters striking vehicles and fighter concentrations in the Kahbub Mountains and al-Waziyah, near Yemen’s far southwestern coast. The other documented advances in Sama, As Silw, and al-Mawasit, rural districts south and southeast of Taiz city, where fighters aligned with Saudi Arabia reportedly surrendered under an amnesty declared the prior month by Mahdi al-Mashat.
The Taiz gains unfolded on a front separate from Red Sea coastal combat. Al Jazeera reported that al-Turbah’s capture by October 4 cut the main road between Taiz city and government-held areas. Along Bab al-Mandab, Saudi-backed forces said on October 9 they had regained nearby coastal zones and Mayyun Island, while Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said an advance from Lahj was repelled and over 22 armored vehicles were destroyed.
