Xiaomi Orders Surge, but Deliveries Need to Confirm Demand

Xiaomi shares gained 9.5% after the company reported more than 70,000 binding orders for its SkyNomad N70 and N90 models by Wednesday. Xiaomi also delivered over 40,000 vehicles in September, but the order and delivery figures refer to different models and periods. Investors are watching whether deliveries continue to confirm the demand signal.
Xiaomi’s reported order figure covers the SkyNomad N70 and N90 and reflects binding commitments through Wednesday. Its September delivery total exceeded 40,000 vehicles, while the September update covers SkyNomad vehicles and total vehicle deliveries, so it cannot be directly compared with the model-specific order count. The two disclosures also cover different periods.
HSBC began covering Xiaomi on 30 September with a buy recommendation and a HKD 33.20 target, according to media reports. That call predates the latest order update, so it does not independently validate the demand signal. Investors may therefore focus on later delivery data to see whether order momentum translates into completed vehicle handovers.
A sustained Xiaomi delivery increase could affect investors, employees, suppliers, and EV buyers by shaping confidence in the company’s execution and its stock. If orders convert into deliveries, it may support jobs and supply-chain activity; if not, market sentiment could weaken, potentially affecting retail investors and financing conditions. The outcome may also influence how other automakers’ order-to-delivery performance is judged.
