Irish Airports to Mark Baby Loss Awareness Week with Illumination

Dublin and Shannon airports will be illuminated in pink and blue on October 15, 2026, to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week. The display is part of the Global Wave of Light, when landmarks and families worldwide remember babies lost during pregnancy, birth, or infancy. A Little Lifetime Foundation welcomed the airports' participation, saying the visible tribute offers comfort to bereaved families.
The Global Wave of Light occurs annually at 7 p.m. local time on October 15, bringing Baby Loss Awareness Week to a close. Candles are lit in homes and public landmarks are illuminated, forming a rolling wave of remembrance as countries move through the evening.
Dublin and Shannon airports will display pink and blue lights for the 2026 event. A Little Lifetime Foundation welcomed Dublin Airport’s participation, noting that its daily footfall makes it a highly visible setting. The tribute will join hundreds of illuminated sites worldwide, including Irish landmarks visited by bereaved families.
The illumination may offer bereaved families a public acknowledgment of loss, especially at airports where travel can feel emotionally charged. Travelers passing through could encounter the tribute and perhaps gain awareness of baby loss and support. Because airports are busy international hubs, the gesture may extend the campaign’s reach beyond those directly affected, encouraging quiet reflection. It may also reinforce how public landmarks can participate in collective remembrance.
