AI Agent Payments on XRP Ledger Top 13 Million Transactions
XRP Ledger's agentic payment transactions grew from about 1 million in July to more than 13 million, according to Chandler Fang and RippleX's J.A. Akinyele. The payments involved 168 registered x402 vendors and processed 6,982.32 XRP plus 12,009.98 RLUSD. Akinyele said the network could reach 100 million such payments sooner than expected if momentum continues.
Chandler Fang, a former Ripple product manager and t54ai co-founder, pointed to figures from RippleX engineering lead J.A. Akinyele. The ledger's agentic payment count rose from roughly one million in July to 13,489,468. These transfers used 168 registered x402 vendors and moved 6,982.32 XRP alongside 12,009.98 RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-pegged stablecoin.
Akinyele has suggested that if this pace holds, 100 million such payments might arrive earlier than anticipated. At XRP Seoul 2026, he said agentic payments represent about a quarter of ledger activity. Ripple is reportedly building AI-agent infrastructure, including smart wallets with identity checks, permissions, spending limits, and three-to-five-second settlement.
If AI agents increasingly pay for data, APIs, and computing power on-chain, developers, vendors, and users of automated services could see faster, lower-friction transactions. Businesses may gain new ways to monetize digital resources, while consumers might interact with agents that manage small payments. Risks could include oversight, security, and spending-control challenges, especially if autonomous wallets scale. The story's impact may depend on adoption by real-world service providers and whether safeguards keep pace.
