Nicolas Cage Rules Out Future Amazon Work Over AI Stance

At New York Comic Con 2026, Nicolas Cage said he probably will not work with Amazon again after refusing to sign an AI waiver for Spider-Noir. Cage described Amazon as very AI-friendly and said he is not an AI-friendly actor. He also expressed support for anti-AI filmmaker Kane Parsons.
At New York Comic Con 2026, Cage explained he declined an AI waiver tied to Spider-Noir. He noted Amazon's sizable OpenAI investment and said he does not belong to that camp. The Marvel series was canceled the prior month.
Cage has criticized AI before, including at the 2025 Saturn Awards and in a 2024 New Yorker interview. He also praised Kane Parsons, the Backrooms director, for handmade, Gen Z filmmaking. Cage remains attached to Madden, True Detective, and Spider-Verse.
Cage's stance may encourage performers to negotiate AI terms and could draw attention to consent and likeness protections. Studios investing in generative tools may face reputational or talent-relations pressure, while audiences could become more aware of AI use in entertainment. The effect likely remains limited to industry debates unless more prominent stars adopt similar public refusals.
