ASUS Zenbook 14 Offers an OLED Display, but RAM Is Fixed at Purchase

ASUS’s Zenbook 14 UX3480QA starts at $799.99 with an OLED screen, a blue metal body, a backlit keyboard, and multiple ports. The base model has 8GB of onboard memory and a 256GB SSD, while a $999.99 version doubles RAM to 16GB but keeps the same storage and Snapdragon X processor. Because memory cannot be upgraded later, buyers must decide whether 8GB or 16GB suits their workload before buying.
ASUS sells the Zenbook 14 UX3480QA in two US setups. The $799.99 model pairs an OLED panel with 8GB onboard memory and a 256GB SSD; the $999.99 model raises memory to 16GB but leaves storage and the eight-core Snapdragon X X1-26-100 unchanged. Because ASUS lists memory as onboard and each configuration at maximum, buyers cannot add more later.
The 14-inch screen is 1920x1200, 16:10, 60Hz, and non-touch. The laptop weighs 2.87 pounds, uses an all-metal body with a Ceraluminum lid, and includes a 50Wh battery, 68W USB-C charger, IR camera for Windows Hello, backlit keyboard, USB-A, HDMI, two USB-C, and a headphone jack.
This fixed-memory approach could affect budget-conscious students, travelers, and remote workers drawn to an affordable OLED laptop. Saving $200 now may mean less headroom for heavy multitasking later, while paying more may strain tighter budgets. The small base storage could push some users toward cloud subscriptions or external drives. Windows on Arm compatibility may also influence whether people with specialized software or older accessories can adopt it comfortably.
