Starfield Modder Achieves Seamless Planet Landing

A modder has created a Starfield mod that allows seamless landing on planets without loading screens. The project reportedly took about half a year. The article frames it as addressing a long-standing community complaint since launch.
A Starfield modder posting as Frederik Wessberg Is A Nerd has demonstrated a project enabling uninterrupted planet and moon landings. The work reportedly consumed about six months. Players can let the ship autopilot from orbit to surface, leave the cockpit, walk around, or fly manually, including low-orbit flight and water landings.
The mod adds more than a transition: climate- and weather-driven volumetric cloud layers, auroras, thunderstorms, airglow, atmospheric scattering, city lights, reentry heat effects, and surface maps. The creator noted vanilla Starfield's planetary rendering is limited to textures, possible cloud movement, and atmosphere, with closer approaches breaking the illusion.
This mod may renew interest among Starfield players who wanted smoother planetary travel, and it could inspire other modders to tackle engine limitations. If widely adopted, it might shift player expectations for space games, showing that community projects can extend a title's lifespan. Bethesda and similar studios could face greater scrutiny over loading transitions, while mod creators may gain recognition for ambitious technical work.
