Rosalía Delivers Two Songs From ‘Lux’ on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Rosalía performed “Reliquia” and “Magnolias” from her album Lux on Saturday Night Live. She sang “Reliquia” on her toes with orchestral shadows behind her, then performed “Magnolias” in the rain while dressed in white. Rolling Stone gave Lux a five-star review and described it as a distinctive, ambitious work blending classical sounds, opera references, and multiple languages.
Rosalía brought two tracks from Lux to Saturday Night Live. For “Reliquia,” she remained on her toes as orchestral players’ silhouettes appeared behind her on a white curtain. Later, “Magnolias,” the album’s closing track, was staged in rain, with the singer in white against darkness.
Lux follows Motomami and El Mal Querer. The hour-long, four-movement record draws on classical and operatic elements and many languages. Rosalía has said it explores feminine mystery, change, and spirituality, and that saint stories—and a cross-religious idea of overcoming fear—helped inspire it. She trained with a ballerina for tour choreography.
Rosalía’s SNL appearance may widen exposure for a multilingual, classically inflected pop project, potentially reaching viewers who do not follow Spanish-language music closely. Fans of pop, Latin music, and opera crossover could see new connections, while younger performers may feel encouraged to mix languages and theatrical staging. The performance could also fuel industry interest in ambitious, concept-driven albums, though its broader cultural impact will likely depend on how audiences and critics continue to receive Lux.
