Nehomar Ochoa is Houston’s lone position-player prospect in the Arizona Fall League, suiting up for the Scottsdale Scorpions. In his first week, he led the club with 22 at-bats and was the only Scorpion to appear in at least six games. His .318 average, .464 on-base mark, and .455 slugging included a double, a triple, two RBI, five walks, five steals, and four strikeouts.
Ochoa’s background includes a baseball family: his father spent three minor-league seasons in the Montreal Expos system before a shoulder injury ended his career. Born in Venezuela, Ochoa moved to the U.S. at age 10 and settled near Houston. The Astros drafted him in the 11th round in 2023 from Galena Park High School. He later overcame a serious Florida car accident and a broken ring finger.

1 paragraph under 90 words. Measured analysis possible impact on society — who affected and how, framed as reasoned perspective ("could", "may"), never as fact, no political advocacy. Need maybe: Ochoa's early AFL success could boost visibility for Houston's farm system and give Astros fans a reason to follow fall baseball. For young players from immigrant families, his path may serve as an encouraging example of resilience after injury and adversity. Scouts and teammates could also benefit from evaluating his speed and on-base skills, though one week in the AFL is a small sample and may not predict long-term outcomes. Count? Let's count.
