Elecrow’s CrowPi 3 Turns Raspberry Pi Into a Chatbot-Building Kit for Kids

Elecrow has introduced the CrowPi 3, a Raspberry Pi 5-based learning station housed in a rugged briefcase with a 4.3-inch touchscreen, camera, microphone, and 41 labeled sensors and modules. Its lessons range from basic LED projects to face recognition, voice control, and connecting large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek. The device is designed to let children assemble and experiment with chatbot technology rather than only use it.
Elecrow’s CrowPi 3 packages a Raspberry Pi 5 inside a hard-shell case with a 4.3-inch touch display, camera, microphone, and 41 marked sensors and modules. Its lessons progress from simple LED tasks to computer vision, speech recognition, and linking to online large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek.
The kit includes two breadboards and can also connect a Pico, Arduino Nano, or micro:bit. Elecrow describes the hardware as open source, with files on GitHub, and lists over 180 lessons. The display is 800 by 480 pixels and 300 nits; a standard HDMI output allows a larger monitor.
By making chatbot construction tangible, the CrowPi 3 could shift some young learners from consuming AI to experimenting with it. Families and schools may gain an accessible route into coding, sensors, and machine learning, though cost, screen limits, and reliance on online LLMs could shape who benefits. It may also encourage gadget makers to treat AI literacy as a hands-on subject rather than a purely software one.
