Rapidus Builds Open Collaboration Framework for Advanced 2nm Chips
Rapidus has created the CORE framework to connect partners across the advanced chip value chain and speed development and volume production. Its first step is Design Solution Associates, a 17-company group that will help customers with early design work for Rapidus's 2nm foundry. Rapidus plans to extend CORE into EDA, IP, and other areas.
Rapidus has introduced CORE, a collaborative framework intended to connect organizations across the advanced semiconductor chain. The company says cutting-edge chip work now depends on combining manufacturing with research, EDA, IP, and design expertise, not just fab technology.
As its first CORE project, Rapidus formed Design Solution Associates, a 17-member design group. These firms are meant to link customers with Rapidus and supply design resources and specialized knowledge, helping customers start earlier and supporting Rapidus’s 2nm foundry from design through production. Rapidus plans to add EDA, IP, and other categories later.
The CORE framework and Design Solution Associates could affect chip designers, tool vendors, and manufacturers by making early collaboration easier. If successful, it may help customers reduce development friction and bring advanced chips to market sooner. Talent-short regions and smaller design firms might gain clearer routes into cutting-edge work, while broader access to 2nm-class technology could influence downstream electronics costs and capabilities. However, outcomes depend on execution and adoption.
