Prime Video Acquires UK Rights to Princess Diana Documentary Series With Secret Tapes

Prime Video has secured UK and Ireland rights to a three-part documentary series featuring unheard audio recordings of Princess Diana. The series, originally titled Diana Unheard, will be released on the streamer as Diana: Her Secret Confessions. It draws on 1991 tapes Diana made with James Colthurst that informed Andrew Morton's 1992 book.
Prime Video will show the three-episode documentary in the UK and Ireland under the title Diana: Her Secret Confessions. Internationally, the project is being offered as Diana Unheard, with Cineflix Rights handling distribution.
The program centers on hours of secret 1991 conversations between Diana and James Colthurst. Those recordings later contributed to Andrew Morton’s 1992 book Diana: Her True Story, which caused major upheaval for the monarchy and Britain’s establishment.
The release may draw renewed public attention to Diana’s own account and to how media and institutions handled her private life. Viewers in the UK and Ireland could encounter a more intimate version of events, while the royal family and commentators may face fresh scrutiny. It might also raise questions about consent, posthumous use of recordings, and the line between historical record and entertainment.
