Googlebook's Better Together support now reaches Samsung Galaxy phones

Google has fixed a major limitation with its new Googlebook laptops by making Better Together cross-device features work with Samsung Galaxy phones. The change applies to Samsung devices running Android 17-based One UI 9.0 and will roll out automatically through Google Play and background service updates over the next few days. Better Together enables task handoff, notification and Do Not Disturb syncing, phone app access on the laptop, and phone file access.
Googlebook arrived this month, but early coverage flagged that several of its strongest cross-device tools were unavailable on Samsung Galaxy handsets. That gap is now addressed for Galaxy models on Android 17 with One UI 9.0, with the fix arriving automatically through Play and background service updates.
Beyond Samsung support, the same announcement describes a simpler initial setup after an upcoming Google Play Services release. It should cut setup steps for Cross-device services and stop a QR code from lingering after phone setup. Better Together also works with compatible phones from Oppo, OnePlus, Motorola, Lenovo, Honor, and Sony.
This change may matter most to Galaxy owners considering a Googlebook, since cross-device continuity could reduce friction between phone and laptop. It may also pressure other laptop ecosystems to improve interoperability. For everyday users, easier handoff, notifications, and file access could make switching devices feel more seamless, though benefits depend on compatible hardware, account setup, and network conditions.
