Telenor Connexion appoints Pekka Lundmark as IoT board chairman

Telenor has appointed former Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark as independent chairman of its IoT business, Telenor Connexion, as part of a broader board and leadership reshuffle. Ingrid Wistrand and Morten Weicher are also joining the board, with Weicher representing Verdane following its strategic partnership with Telenor. Telenor Connexion has additionally named Jesper Bruksner as chief HR officer to focus on recruitment, staff development and expansion.
Telenor Connexion’s board changes form part of a wider leadership and governance refresh intended to support growth and new services. Pekka Lundmark, formerly Nokia’s CEO and earlier head of Fortum and Konecranes, becomes independent chairman. Ingrid Wistrand, who co-founded Tele2 IoT and later served as Deutsche Telekom IoT’s COO, also joins.
Morten Weicher joins for Verdane after the companies began a strategic partnership in May. He has experience with acquisitions and helping technology firms enter new markets. Dan Ouchterlony, Tom Hvammen and Liv Ingeborg Blekkerud remain directors, keeping Telenor involved. Jesper Bruksner becomes chief HR officer, concentrating on hiring, staff development and expansion support.
The reshuffle may shape how quickly Telenor Connexion develops and internationalizes IoT offerings. Businesses and consumers relying on connected devices could see changes in service availability, innovation or support. Employees may experience new recruitment and development priorities. Verdane's involvement could bring acquisition-led expansion, potentially affecting competition and market choice, though outcomes remain uncertain.
