Russian strikes kill 10, injure 73 while hitting Ukraine's energy sites

Russian attacks across Ukraine on Oct. 11-12 killed at least 10 people and injured 73, with residential buildings and energy facilities among the targets. Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched 121 Shahed-type drones and decoy drones overnight, and defenses downed or suppressed 89 of them. Strikes damaged Kharkiv's CHP-5 plant, a Zhytomyr energy site, and Kyiv's power infrastructure, while casualties were reported in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.
Between Oct. 11 and 12, attacks reported across Ukraine left at least ten dead and seventy-three wounded. Kharkiv Oblast accounted for five deaths and forty-two injuries, while Donetsk's Sloviansk recorded one death and ten injuries. Ivano-Frankivsk lost three service members, with three more hurt.
Overnight, Ukraine's Air Force tracked 121 Shahed-type drones, including 76 jet-powered models, plus decoy drones; 89 were downed or suppressed, with impacts at 15 sites. Damage hit Kharkiv's CHP-5, a Zhytomyr energy facility, and Kyiv power infrastructure. Trump announced an energy ceasefire; Ukraine said it lacked details.
The strikes could deepen hardship for residents in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, and other affected areas, especially if power and water disruptions continue. Households, emergency workers, and service members may face heightened risk, while hospitals and essential services could struggle under intermittent outages. The reported casualties and damage may also intensify public anxiety ahead of winter, though the full humanitarian effect will depend on how quickly repairs and defenses can be maintained.
