Blueprints AI claims rapid, permit-ready architectural plans

Blueprints AI, a Santa Monica startup founded by Al Drams and Coco Cao, says its generative AI software can turn a sketch or PDF into code-compliant, permit-ready construction blueprints in minutes. The company was chosen for the Startup Battlefield 200 and plans to unveil a more capable second-generation product at TechCrunch Disrupt. Drams said architects spend roughly 80% of their time drafting and wants to reverse that ratio so they can devote more time to design.
Drams first explored software for generating school-building design documents in a college thesis roughly 20 years ago, but the needed tools were not available then. After ChatGPT arrived in late 2022, he moved quickly, forming Blueprints AI's concept within six months. He later incorporated it in Santa Monica in 2025 with Coco Cao.
The founders used eight years of approved plan sets from Drams' design-and-construction practice to train their models. Cao, a Hong Kong data scientist, leads sales and market strategy. The company was picked for Startup Battlefield 200 and will exhibit at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco from October 13 to 15.
If the tool performs as claimed, architects and engineers may spend less time on repetitive documentation and more on design review, potentially speeding some projects. Drafting-focused roles could face pressure to reskill, while developers and municipalities might see faster submissions. Human review and licensed seals remain central, so safety and accountability may depend on how firms integrate the software.
