Guide Highlights Leading Cross-Chain Bridges for Multi-Chain Crypto Transfers

The article reviews cross-chain bridges that let users move supported assets between different blockchain networks. It covers the Polygon bridge for Ethereum and Polygon PoS transfers, and notes that Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta is no longer active. It also describes the Avalanche Bridge, which connects Avalanche’s C-Chain with networks including Ethereum and Bitcoin.
EXPANDED:
The Polygon bridge is the native PoS route linking Ethereum and Polygon PoS. It locks assets on the source chain and issues pegged tokens on the destination; returning burns those tokens and unlocks the originals. Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta stopped producing blocks after its sequencer shut down on July 3, 2026, and Agglayer Bridge withdrawals are unavailable. Eligible self-custodied assets may be recovered on Ethereum through Polygon’s claims interface, subject to restrictions.
Avalanche Bridge, built by AvaLabs and Core, supports transfers between Ethereum and Avalanche’s C-Chain and is used within Avalanche. Users should use Core’s official interface, not direct contract or wallet sends, to avoid permanent loss. Avalanche also has X-Chain and P-Chain. Since January 28, 2026, Lombard handles Avalanche Bitcoin bridging, while the original Bitcoin bridge infrastructure was wound down; the Ethereum–Avalanche EVM Bridge continues.
