Houthi official threatens strong retaliation if US joins Yemen conflict

A Houthi official warned that the United States would face a severe and painful response if it entered Yemen's war. Saudi Arabia has reportedly asked Washington for help in confronting the Houthis as they carry out repeated attacks.
A Houthi official said Washington would face a harsh and agonizing consequence if it joined the Yemen conflict. The warning came as Riyadh, facing continuing Houthi strikes, was reportedly seeking American assistance.
Recent reports note repeated attacks on Riyadh airport, including one that killed twelve people, prompting Saudi vows of a decisive reply and an extended airport suspension. They also cite worsening food insecurity amid intensified fighting and an ambassador’s view that the Houthis sustain themselves through war.
If Washington expands its role, Yemeni civilians could face further displacement and worsening food shortages, while residents in Saudi cities may remain vulnerable to retaliatory attacks. Regional tensions may also increase, potentially affecting trade, travel, and diplomatic efforts. The greatest burden would likely fall on ordinary people already living with prolonged conflict, though the scale of any escalation remains uncertain.
