Phoebe Bridgers reunites with Boygenius for A24 acoustic performance

Phoebe Bridgers performed a short acoustic set for A24’s Sound Check at Cherry Lane Theatre, directed by Lance Oppenheim. She opened with ‘On Video’ alongside pianist Ethan Gruska before bringing out Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus for ‘Haunted’ and ‘Lost Boys’. The Boygenius reunion followed a surprise appearance by Baker and Dacus at Bridgers’ phone-free New York tour date.
The A24 Sound Check series places short live sets at Cherry Lane Theatre under director Lance Oppenheim. Bridgers began with “On Video,” a soundtrack cut, backed by pianist Ethan Gruska. She then welcomed Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus for “Haunted” and “Lost Boys,” adding harmonies to her solo material.
That reunion followed Baker and Dacus’s surprise appearance at Bridgers’s phone-free New York date, where they performed “Not Strong Enough” and “Powers”; no footage circulated because of the tour’s no-phone rule. Their most recent TV appearance together had been on Saturday Night Live in 2023. Boygenius released The Record that year before going on hiatus.
This reunion may energize indie-music fans and Boygenius followers, potentially renewing attention on the trio’s catalog and Bridgers’s Lost Weekend. A24’s intimate Sound Check format could also draw film and music audiences together, while the phone-free policy may encourage more focused live listening. For artists, such high-profile collaborations could support touring and soundtrack work; for fans, they offer rare, shareable moments—though the lack of footage from the New York show may make the A24 set especially valued.
