Inseego Adds Multi-WAN Switching Software to Broadband Devices

Inseego introduced multi-WAN control software for its broadband appliances. The software manages multiple internet connections and automatically switches between them using customer- or operator-defined priorities. It supports outdoor 5G receivers, satellite terminals, fiber, wired connections, and integrated cellular links, and will be demonstrated at Network X.
Inseego’s new software is designed for broadband appliances that combine several WAN links. It can monitor whether each connection is available and stable, then choose the active path according to priorities set by a customer or operator. Supported links include outdoor 5G receivers, satellite terminals, fiber, other wired connections, and integrated cellular. Setup runs through Inseego Connect, the company’s cloud management platform.
The launch follows Inseego’s completed acquisition of Nokia’s fixed wireless access business on Oct. 1, which expanded its outdoor receiver portfolio. The company plans to show automatic switching and recovery on the Wavemaker FX4200 at Network X using simulated connection failures. Inseego trades under INSG.
Multi-WAN switching could make broadband more resilient for homes, businesses, and remote sites that depend on continuous connectivity. If connections fail, automatic failover may reduce outages for telemedicine, remote work, and emergency communications, though actual benefits depend on available links, operator policies, and deployment costs. Network operators and equipment vendors may gain flexibility in mixing fiber, cellular, and satellite services, while users in poorly served areas could see improved reliability only where multiple connections are economically available.
