Windows 11 23H2 enterprise editions near end of security updates

Microsoft said Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions will stop receiving security updates after November 2026. The November security update will be the final one for those editions, leaving devices without monthly protection from new threats. Microsoft recommends moving eligible systems to Windows 11 26H2, which is rolling out now.
Microsoft's notice applies to Windows 11 23H2 builds used by enterprises, schools, and specialized IoT devices. The final monthly patch for those editions arrives in November 2026. Home and Pro versions of the same release had already lost updates in November 2025.
Eligible machines can move to Windows 11 26H2, released in September 2026 as an enablement package. Its consumer support window runs through October 2029. Microsoft is delivering it gradually, and users can trigger a manual check through Windows Update.
Organizations using these editions—businesses, schools, and IoT operators—could face rising exposure if they delay migration. Unpatched devices may become easier targets, and compliance or procurement rules might complicate continued use. IT teams may need time to test and deploy 26H2. Consumers are less directly affected because Home and Pro support already ended, but the broader reminder is that Windows lifecycle deadlines can quietly reshape security for many connected systems.
