Manhattan Associates Selected by Kesko for Cloud-Based Warehouse Overhaul

Kesko, a major Finnish grocery retailer, has chosen Manhattan Associates' ActiveWarehouse platform to replace its legacy warehouse management system. The initial agreement covers five distribution centers, with a new facility planned for 2029–30. Kesko's grocery division reported EUR 6.5 billion in 2025 net sales and EUR 418 million in comparable operating profit.
Kesko, Finland’s second-largest grocery operator and a major Northern European retailer, is swapping its grocery logistics legacy system for Manhattan Associates’ ActiveWarehouse. The cloud-native platform includes agentic AI tools delivered through ActiveAgents and Agent Foundry. The first phase spans five distribution centres plus terminal hub operations, with a greenfield site expected in 2029–30.
Kesko’s grocery division, comprising K-food stores and Kespro, recorded EUR 6.5 billion in 2025 net sales and EUR 418 million in comparable operating profit. Planned deployments include Manhattan’s Wave Coordinator, Labour, and Warehouse Associate Agents, while Kesko also plans to examine further inbound-focused agents using Agent Foundry. Manhattan trades on Nasdaq under MANH.
If the deployment proceeds as planned, shoppers in Finland could see more reliable grocery availability and faster fulfilment as Kesko’s distribution network becomes more responsive. Warehouse employees may experience changed roles and skill demands as AI-assisted coordination and labour tools are introduced. Smaller suppliers and logistics partners might need to adapt to new digital processes. The project may also encourage other Nordic retailers to accelerate cloud and AI adoption, though actual outcomes will depend on implementation and operational execution.
